Language + data tasks
Translation, transcription, captioning, labelling, conversation, code-switching and related data tasks can earn VP when matching inventory is available.
Explore AI and language tasks →Odyssey Earn lets South African contributors earn Voice Points from available online tasks and research. When your available balance reaches 10 000 VP, Airtime is one of the current cash-out methods you can request.
This is not an “instant free airtime” promise. You earn VP by completing eligible activities, then submit an Airtime cash-out request for review. Task inventory and earnings vary.

The important distinction
Odyssey uses Voice Points as the common reward unit across the platform. Different tasks can offer different amounts of VP, and some contribution types can have their own validation or approval path.
Airtime becomes relevant at the Wallet stage. Once at least 10 000 VP is available, you can choose Airtime, enter a valid 10-digit South African mobile number and submit a cash-out request.
PayShap is the other current cash-out method. Choosing Airtime does not change how VP is earned before cash-out.
Where VP can come from
Odyssey Earn can expose several types of earning activity. Availability changes, so the signed-in product remains the source of truth for what you can actually do at a given time.
Translation, transcription, captioning, labelling, conversation, code-switching and related data tasks can earn VP when matching inventory is available.
Explore AI and language tasks →First-party research surveys can carry their own VP reward when a published study is matched to your account and still has capacity.

The Wallet calculates the cash-out from the server-owned VP amount and current fee. At today's rules, the minimum request works like this:
Available balance
10 000 VP
Base value
R100.00
Current fee
−R12.00
12%
You request
R88.00
The Wallet shows the fee and amount you will receive before you submit. Financial rules can change, so the signed-in Wallet remains the transaction-time source of truth.
What happens after Request
Submitting the form creates a cash-out request and places the requested VP on hold. It does not mean the airtime has already been delivered.
Your request is created and the requested VP is held so it cannot be spent twice.
An authorised operator can move a requested cash-out into processing.
A processing cash-out can be marked Paid only with a payout reference.
If a requested or processing cash-out fails, a reason is recorded and the held VP is returned through the VP ledger.
No fixed payout-time promise
Odyssey currently describes Airtime and PayShap as “submitted for review.” This page therefore does not claim instant airtime or a fixed number of minutes/hours to completion. Track the status in the Wallet after submitting.
Airtime destination
An Airtime request currently accepts a valid 10-digit South African mobile number beginning with 0. The same validation exists in the server-owned redemption authority.
The product does not currently ask you to select MTN, Vodacom, Telkom, Cell C or another network in the cash-out form. For that reason, Odyssey should not turn the absence of a network selector into an unsupported “all networks guaranteed” marketing claim.
Check the destination carefully before submitting. The Wallet masks the destination in the success state and lets you track the request afterward.
Questions people ask
Yes, but Odyssey does not award a fixed amount of airtime simply for opening the site. You earn Voice Points (VP) from available earning activities. Once you have at least 10,000 available VP, Airtime is one of the current cash-out methods you can request.
The current minimum is 10 000 available VP. At the base value of R0.01 per VP, that is R100.00 before the current 12% cash-out fee.
At the current rules, 10 000 VP has a R100.00 base value. The 12% cash-out fee is R12.00, leaving a R88.00 requested payout value. The Wallet shows the fee and net amount before submission.
No instant-payout promise should be assumed. Airtime cash-outs are submitted as requests for review. The Wallet can show Requested, Processing, Paid or Failed status, and Odyssey does not currently publish a fixed processing-time SLA on this page.
The current cash-out form asks for a valid 10-digit South African mobile number and does not ask you to choose a mobile network. Odyssey therefore does not publish a guaranteed network list here. Check the destination number carefully before submitting a request.
Yes. Airtime and PayShap are the two current Odyssey Earn cash-out methods. PayShap uses the ShapID entered and confirmed in the Wallet, while Airtime uses a valid 10-digit South African mobile number.
The redemption authority can mark a requested or processing cash-out as failed with a reason. When that happens, the VP held for that cash-out is returned through Odyssey's canonical VP balance ledger.
No. The current server authority permits one active cash-out request per account at a time while a request is in Requested or Processing status.
No. Task availability, eligibility, rewards and partner opportunities vary. Odyssey Earn is a contributor and microtask platform, not guaranteed daily income or salaried employment.
Earn first. Choose your cash-out later.
When you reach the current cash-out threshold, choose Airtime or PayShap in the Wallet, review the fee and net amount, and submit the request that suits you.
