We collect: (a) Account information — name, email address, phone number, province, and home language when you register; (b) Task data — translations, captions, audio transcriptions, and other language contributions you submit; (c) Usage data — task completion history, VP balance, login activity, and device information; (d) Payment data — cashout requests and redemption history; (e) Survey/offer data — completion records from third-party offerwall partners.
Your information is used to: operate and improve the Odyssey Earn platform; credit and manage your VP balance; process cashout requests; verify your identity and prevent fraud; build and improve South African language AI datasets; communicate platform updates and earning opportunities; comply with legal obligations under POPIA and other applicable law.
We work with the following third-party partners who may receive your user ID and usage data to facilitate earning opportunities: Wannads (offerwall and surveys); CPX Research (survey platform); ayeT-Studios (survey platform); TheoremReach (survey platform); Google (authentication via OAuth, Analytics); Supabase (data storage and infrastructure); Resend (email communications); PayFast (payment processing). Each partner has its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum data necessary for service delivery. We do not sell your personal information.
Language task submissions (translations, captions, transcriptions) are used to build AI training datasets. Contributions are anonymised before inclusion in any dataset shared with third parties. You consent to this use by accepting these terms. You may withdraw consent by contacting us, which will not affect prior submissions.
We collect and analyse usage patterns, device fingerprints, and behavioural data to detect and prevent fraudulent activity. This is necessary to protect the integrity of our reward system and our offerwall partners. Suspected fraud data may be shared with our partners to prevent cross-platform abuse.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Task submission data is retained indefinitely for AI training purposes in anonymised form. Financial records are retained for 7 years as required by South African law. You may request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to: access your personal information; correct inaccurate information; request deletion of your information; object to processing; lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator. We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We use Google Analytics to understand platform usage. We do not use advertising tracking cookies. Third-party offerwall providers may use their own cookies when you access their services through our platform.
Odyssey Earn is not directed at persons under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware of such collection, we will delete the information immediately.
