We collect: (a) Account and profile information — email address, name, and profile details you provide such as province, languages, accent, and age-range information; (b) Task data — translations, captions, audio transcriptions, recordings, labels, and other contributions you submit; (c) Usage and reward data — task completion history, VP balances and events, login/session activity, and other platform usage information; (d) Cash-out data — redemption amount, method, status, and payout destination such as a South African mobile number for Airtime or a PayShap ShapID; (e) Survey and offer data — answers and completion records for Odyssey Surveys and completion or postback records received from third-party earning partners.
Your information is used to: operate, secure, and improve Odyssey Earn; credit and manage your VP balance; process and review cash-out requests; verify identity or eligibility where reasonably necessary; detect and prevent fraud and abuse; operate Odyssey research and survey features; build and improve South African language AI datasets and related systems; communicate service updates and earning opportunities; measure platform usage and support advertising; and comply with legal obligations under POPIA and other applicable law.
We use service providers and earning partners to operate Odyssey Earn. These currently include Google for authentication, Analytics and AdSense; Supabase for authentication, database, storage and related infrastructure; Resend for email delivery; and third-party earning or survey providers such as Wannads, CPX Research, ayeT-Studios, TheoremReach, TimeWall, AdGem and other approved providers when available. A partner may receive account identifiers, technical information, eligibility or completion information, or other data reasonably necessary to provide and verify its service. When you open a third-party offerwall or survey, that provider may collect information directly from you under its own privacy policy. Airtime and PayShap cash-outs may require payout destination details to be used for fulfilment and verification. We do not sell your personal information.
Language task submissions, including translations, captions, transcriptions, recordings and labels, may be used to build and improve AI training datasets and related systems. Contributions included in datasets shared with third parties are handled without direct account identifiers and, where appropriate, in anonymised or de-identified form. The licence governing submitted contributions is described in the Terms of Service. Your rights in relation to personal information remain subject to POPIA and this Privacy Policy.
We may analyse account activity, task and submission patterns, session or device signals, redemption activity, and other security indicators to detect and prevent fraudulent or abusive activity. This is necessary to protect users, the integrity of the reward system, Odyssey-owned research, and third-party earning partners. Where reasonably necessary and lawful, fraud-related information may be shared with relevant providers to investigate abuse or prevent cross-platform fraud.
We retain account and operational data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Platform, maintain records, protect the reward system, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Task submission data may be retained for AI training and dataset purposes in anonymised or de-identified form. Financial and redemption records may be retained where required for accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, or other legal purposes. You may request deletion of personal information, subject to lawful retention requirements and information that has already been irreversibly anonymised.
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you may have rights to access personal information we hold about you, request correction or deletion where applicable, object to certain processing, and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator. To exercise a privacy right or ask a question, contact support@odysseyailabs.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
We use essential cookies or similar technologies for authentication, security, and session management. We use Google Analytics to understand platform usage and Google AdSense to serve advertising on Odyssey Earn. Google and other advertising or analytics providers may use cookies or similar technologies in accordance with their own policies, consent controls, and browser settings. Third-party offerwall and survey providers may also use their own cookies or similar technologies when you access their services. Viewing or interacting with an advertisement does not earn VP unless Odyssey explicitly identifies a separate, compliant rewarded activity.
Odyssey Earn is not directed at persons under 18. We do not knowingly allow minors to use the Platform. If we become aware that a person under 18 has provided personal information in breach of our eligibility rules, we will take reasonable steps to investigate and delete or restrict the information where appropriate and lawful.
